The Lakeland High School football team took a 46-0 loss against Great Bridge High School last Friday night.
Lakeland goes to 0-6 on the season after a tough loss on the road to Great Bridge. The Cavs were unable to get on the scoreboard despite solid efforts to try to do so. They were shut out for the second time this season.
Coach Joe Jones has talked about the Cavs continuing to fight through these growing pains and all of this adversity, because he sees good things in the future from his group. All of the offense is first-year starters which means that side of the ball has made strides game in and game out.
Overall, the Cavs as a group face likely the toughest schedule in the Southeastern District, with them being the smallest school in it. Each game is a test for the Cavs and in turn likely makes them better every time they line up Friday night.
Next for Lakeland is a matchup at home against Hickory High School. The Cavs hope that returning home will give them a much-needed boost as they continue to search for their first win of the season.
