The King’s Fork High School boys’ volleyball team split its season series with Western Branch High School.

Back in September when the two teams matched up, Western Branch earned a hard-fought 3-2 win. Even though each set was relatively close Tuesday night, the Bulldogs got the job done in four sets.

“These guys are improving each day,” Coach Angie Gatling said. “Tuesday night they proved that any combination that’s on the floor is powerful enough to unlock the win. That is a growing area for us. The guys are discovering their own talent.”

Carlo Cecchini had six kills, 11 assists, two solo blocks and three aces. Avontae Burke had five kills, four assists and a solo block. Darius Dunn added four kills and an assist block and two solo blocks.

With a couple regular season games left, Gatling believes the Bulldogs are heading in the right direction at 8-8.

“As long as we keep our heads cool, I feel like we will be just fine,” she said. “We want to continue holding ourselves accountable for our mistakes, and we want to keep becoming more discipline.”

The Bulldogs will take on Deep Creek High School Thursday evening.
