A motorcyclist has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a Saturday evening crash.

The accident happened in the 400 block of Carolina Road at 7:05 p.m., according to a city press release. A motorcycle and passenger vehicle were involved in the collision.

The motorcyclist, an adult male, was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, the press release stated. The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured.

The road was closed in both directions for 45 minutes following the accident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
