The Nansemond River High School boys’ volleyball team earned the series win over Western Branch High School Tuesday night.

The Warriors battled with the Bruins for five sets and came out with a 3-2 win. Both matchups between the two teams this season went to five sets. With the win, the Warriors have won four of their last five games and close the regular season out with some momentum.

“The boys played great, and they played together and came together as a team,” Coach Teresa Hodges said.

Nansemond River will now be in wait-and-see mode to learn if they have earned a spot in the Class 5 Region A playoffs. Regardless of whether they get in, Hodges felt good about the progress her team has made the past two seasons.

“They have shown tremendous growth,” she said. “Each year keeps getting better and better. The guys have grown both on the court and off the court as athletes.”
