Gas prices in Virginia remain steady going into the first week of November, AAA Tidewater Virginia announced on Monday.

Gas prices in the state are $2.30 per gallon as of Monday. That’s the same as last week, according to the press release, but is also 22 cents cheaper than last year.

Gas prices are even lower in Hampton Roads at $2.24 per gallon, 21 cents cheaper than last year. According to the press release, the gasoline demand numbers look more like summer than fall in the Energy Information Administration’s latest reports.

But despite the high demand rate and a draw in U.S. stocks, the national average held steady at $2.60 per gallon on the week, the press release stated.

“Gas prices continue to be flat in Virginia,” AAA Tidewater Virginia spokeswoman Georjeane Blumling stated in the press release. “The good news is that the gas prices are still significantly less than last year.”

Gasbuddy.com on Monday evening recorded regular gas prices in Suffolk that ranged from $2.15 to $2.29 per gallon, a solid decrease compared to the $2.13 to $2.29 per gallon range that was recorded on Oct. 14.
