The Suffolk Art Gallery is now accepting submissions for the 36th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition, which is open to all professional and amateur photographers ages 18 and older.

According to the press release, “all styles of photography in which traditional and digital processes were integral to the creation of the work will be accepted.” Photographs must be originals “executed and altered” by the photographer only, the release states.

The call for entries will run through Jan. 27. Digital images will be used to determine if submissions are accepted into the exhibit. If selected, framed images must be received at the Suffolk Art Gallery no later than 4:30 p.m. on March 2.

Photographers may submit a maximum of four entries for a one-time, non-refundable $30 entry fee. The entry process includes payment of the entry fee, completion of an entry form, and submission of digital images.

This is a juried exhibit, and payment and application does not guarantee acceptance into the exhibit, according to the release.

Award-winning photographer and instructor Will Willner will be the juror for this exhibit.

Awards will include best in show for a $500 prize, second place for $300, third place for $200, and four honorable mentions for $100.  Applicants will be notified of the juror’s decision by Feb. 7.

Registration must include a completed entry form, which can be received via email at areavis@suffolkva.us and by calling the Suffolk Art Gallery at 514-7284. The entry fee may be completed through the Suffolk Parks and Recreation website.

The exhibition will be on display at the Suffolk Art Gallery at 118 Bosley Ave. from March 7 through April 17. The opening awards reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. March 7. All receptions and exhibits at the Suffolk Art Gallery are free and open to the public.
