Police seek counterfeiting suspect

Suffolk Police are seeking the public’s assistance locating a woman wanted for allegedly passing counterfeit currency to purchase prepaid Visa gift cards.

A city press release identified the woman as Natesha Lashay Cheeks, 24, of Suffolk. She is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and 150 pounds with brown eyes, the press release stated.

The incidents happened Nov. 13 at the Rite Aid in the 1500 block of Holland Road and Nov. 25 at the Family Dollar in the 800 block of East Washington Street, the press release stated. In each incident, the subject allegedly used $400 in counterfeit currency to purchase the gift cards.

Anyone with information on Cheeks’ whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
