After a busy holiday weekend that saw 1.3 million Americans traveling on Virginia roadways, AAA Tidewater Virginia announced Monday that there was little fluctuation with gas prices.

According to the Monday press release, the price for a gallon of unleaded gas in the Commonwealth is $2.31, which is the same as last week but a penny more compared to last month.

In Hampton Roads, gas prices are even lower than the state average at $2.24 per gallon. The national gas price average is one penny cheaper than last Monday at $2.58, and three cents less than last month, but also 12 cents more expensive than last year at this time.

“Gasoline stocks have steadily increased the past few weeks as gasoline demand has started to slow. This trend is creating cheaper gas prices for the majority of motorists,” Katharine Beachboard, spokeswoman for AAA Tidewater Virginia, stated in the press release.

Gasbuddy.com on Wednesday recorded regular gas prices in Suffolk that ranged from $2.14 to $2.29 per gallon, very close compared to the $2.15 to $2.29 per gallon range that was recorded in early November.
