One person died in a single-vehicle accident early Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Shonta L. Clark, 31, of Capron.

The crash happened about 12:43 a.m. at Route 58 westbound at the intersection of Franklin Bypass and South Quay Road, according to a city press release.

Clark was the driver and only occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene by Suffolk Fire & Rescue, the press release stated.

Preliminary investigation found the vehicle left the roadway and struck a street sign and several trees.

Police continue their investigation into the cause of the accident.
