Police investigate armed robbery, auto theft

Suffolk Police are investigating an armed robbery and theft of a vehicle that happened late Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the Hampton Roads Crossing Apartments in the 5000 block of Boynton Place, according to a city press release. It was reported at 11:59 p.m.

Preliminary investigation found the adult male victim was approached by several unknown black males believed to range in age from teens to early 20s, the press release stated. The victim reported one of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s money, then took the victim’s black Infiniti G37 and fled in it, striking a parked vehicle as they exited the apartment complex. The victim was not injured.

The stolen vehicle was found crashed shortly before 1 a.m. in Portsmouth near the Martin Luther King Bridge, the press release stated. All subjects had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.
