Robberies believed to be connected

Suffolk Police are investigating two armed robbery reports from Tuesday night, according to a city press release.

The first incident was reported at 10:57 p.m. and reportedly occurred in the 6300 block of Respass Beach Road. The second was reported at 11:03 p.m. in the 1100 block of Island Park Circle.

The press release stated the male victim in the first incident was walking home when a vehicle stopped. An unknown male emerged, displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s headphones and backpack. Two other suspects stayed in the vehicle, which left the scene after the theft. No injuries were reported.

In the second incident, a female victim was returning home when two unknown suspects approached and demanded her purse while one displayed what appeared to be a handgun, the press release stated. The suspects then fled in a vehicle. The victim was treated on the scene by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel for minor injuries she suffered fighting the offenders.

The incidents appear to be connected, the press release stated. The suspects were described as medium build, medium height, black males in their late teens to early 20s. The vehicle in both incidents was reported to be a light-colored sedan.
