Library launches book subscription service

The Suffolk Public Library wants to make it easier for patrons to find their next great read with the recent launch of Ready Reads, a monthly subscription service that pairs reader preferences with books and audiobooks that library staff members select for them.
“Ready Reads is a new service where we’re providing monthly curated bundles of books to customers who sign up,” said Bill Edwards-Bodmer, collection strategy senior librarian for Suffolk Public Library. “It’s all about connecting the Suffolk community to our collections in a new and exciting way.”
Anyone who is interested can sign up for a single or family subscription by completing the online form to indicate their reading preferences, including preferred reading format, quantity of books, favorite books and authors, book dislikes and preferred genres and subjects.
Library staff will then use those preferences to curate books for readers to match their tastes. For those willing to go outside their reading comfort zones, people can opt in to an additional wildcard title to try something new.
After signing up, the library will put together book bundles for subscribers each month.
Anyone with an active Suffolk Public Library card in good standing is eligible for Ready Reads. Anyone without a library card still can sign up for Ready Reads and come prepared with a photo ID to sign up for a library card at their first pickup.
Book bundles will be available on the first operating business day of each month and will be held for seven days.
The first bundles go out Feb. 3 for those who sign up before Jan. 15. During the trial period of the new service, there will be a 50-person limit.
