James Edward Hughes Jr. passed away Jan. 3, 2020 at his home in Suffolk. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was retired from Contractors Yard in Chesapeake. He was predeceased by his parents, James Edward Hughes Sr. and Stella (BR) Hughes. He is survived by his son, James David Hughes, of Suffolk; sisters Barbara Adams, Jackie Basnight of Alabama, Diana Ferebee and Mitch, of Sunbury, N.C.; a granddaughter, Amanda Hughes, of Chesapeake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for the family, and a celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
