Please do something about trains

To the editor:

Our city leaders need to take notice and do something about the growing lengths and disruptions the trains are causing moping along through our city and neighborhoods.

I sat at the railroad crossing yesterday afternoon (Jan. 2) for 45 minutes while the train moped, stopped, started, moped, started, stopped and started again, and this was not the first time this has happened. This was happening between 5 and 6 p.m., as we are trying to get home from work. In addition to the length of the train, the train crossing arms came up after it passed, and after three cars passed, they immediately came down again for no apparent reason, barely missing the cars crossing the tracks.

Cars were backed up from the crossing all the way out to Wilroy Road, with some cars having nowhere to go. I can only imagine what the other crossings experienced.

Apparently safety is no concern for our citizens as we allow the train company to do as it pleases. Let’s be pro-active and do something about this before the trains stretch from one end of the city to the other.
