Two injured in shooting

Two women were injured in a shooting that happened early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened in the 600 block of Battery Avenue, according to a city press release. Emergency Communications received a notification of shots fired in the area of Wellons Street and Battery Avenue about 1:51 a.m.
Two women suffered gunshot wounds in the incident, according to the press release. One victim was transported to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The other drove herself to a local hospital, and her injuries also are not considered life-threatening.
An occupied home nearby was also struck by gunfire. There were no injuries to anyone inside the home.
