The Suffolk Police Department is currently investigating an accident involving a vehicle that struck a pedestrian in the 1200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard.

Emergency Communications was notified of the accident at 6:04 p.m. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

Upon preliminary investigation it was found that the victim was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street. The victim received emergency medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and was airlifted to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway in the area was closed immediately following the accident, and the investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
