A chance for snow?

Yes, there is, but it’s not expected to amount to much.

The National Weather Service’s Wakefield office is forecasting a 40 percent chance of snow for Thursday night, with accumulations of less than one inch possible. The low is forecast to be around 28 degrees.

There is a hazardous weather outlook for the Hampton Roads region, including Suffolk.

The forecast indicates that low pressure off the southeast coast will get stronger Thursday night into Friday as an arctic high pressure comes in from the northwest.

“There is still a lot of uncertainty in the forecast, but there remains a chance for a light accumulation of snow Thursday night across far southeast Virginia,” according to the Wakefield office.

It won’t stay freezing for long, however.

Though Friday’s high temperature isn’t expected to get to 40 and the evening low is expected to be in the upper 20s again, the weekend forecast is for sunny skies and highs in the 50s, with Sunday’s high forecast to be 57.

During the day Wednesday and Thursday, there is a chance of rain on each day, with highs in the mid-to-upper 40s.
