Suffolk natives Brandee’ Johnson and JeVon Waller recently set new personal records at their respective schools.

Team WAR has a long list of standout runners at the college level, with two of them being former standouts Johnson and Waller. Johnson is in her senior season at the University of Florida, while Waller is in his sophomore season at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Florida competed at Clemson University over the weekend, where Johnson had a PR in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.21. That time ranks the No. 5 highest in the school’s history. Back in January, she ran the same event with a time of 8.25. Johnson has also been a part of the nation’s top 4×400 relay team this season as well.

Waller competed in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational over the weekend with VCU and set a new PR in the 200 dash. Both athletes are coming up on indoor championship meets and eventual NCAA indoor national meets.

Last indoor season, Waller took home a conference title in the 60-meter dash. Johnson placed in the top 10 in conference championship indoor meet in hurdles. Both were standouts during their time with Team WAR, with Johnson receiving tons of national recognition as she was among the best athletes in her class. She was the 2016 Virginia Gatorade Athlete of the Year. Both were part of state and national titles with WAR.
