Cavs’ hot shooting overcomes New Kent
The Lakeland High School boys’ basketball team advanced to the second round of the Class 3A tournament with a win over New Kent High School.
Lakeland was on fire beyond the arc last Friday in their opening round region matchup with New Kent. The Cavs combined to sink 12 three-pointers in a 83-42 win. As a team, the Cavs shot 50 percent from the three-point line, going 12-24. They dominated from start to finish, holding a 41-14 lead over New Kent at halftime, and they continued to finish the game just as strong in the second half.
Clint Wright Jr. led the Cavs in scoring with 23 points, which included going 7-of-9 from the three-point line. Tyshawn Allen and Keimari Artis both finished in double figures as well with 13 each.
Lakeland will now host Park View High School at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
