UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Walter J. Sculthorpe, 60, of North Chesterfield.

Godwin Boulevard has been reopened to traffic.

Earlier: Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue units are currently on the scene of a fatal two vehicle accident in the 4000 block of Godwin Boulevard.

Emergency Communications was contacted at 1:40 p.m. advising of the accident.

One patient was pronounced deceased at the scene while a second patient was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A third patient was also transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for an extended period of time as the investigation into the cause of the accident continues.

Suffolk Police continue their investigation into the cause of the accident.
