Keep Suffolk Beautiful is seeking volunteers to come out and support the St. Patrick’s Day Cleanup on March 14, the first of many organized cleanups planned for 2020.
The St. Patrick’s Day Cleanup will be from 9 a.m. to noon and focus on removing litter from the heart of downtown Suffolk. According to a city press release, the cleanup will focus on East Washington Street and the surrounding side roads.
Volunteers can meet outside the Nansemond Brewing Station, 212 E. Washington St., to collect equipment and meet other volunteers. School students will also be able to earn community service hours for participating in the cleanup, the press release states.
“This will be our third year hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Cleanup,” Keep Suffolk Beautiful Board Member Bill Farrell states in the press release. “We would like to thank the Nansemond Brewing Station for supporting the cleanup effort and helping to promote the event. We are hoping for a strong turnout, so if you are planning on joining us, please invite your friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to come along, too.”
No advance registration is required to participate in the cleanup, and volunteers will receive litter grabbers, gloves and bags on site.
