Prices still dropping at gas pumps
Motorists across Virginia keep finding relief by gas prices that continue to drop, AAA Tidewater Virginia announced Monday.
According to the Monday press release, the average price for gas in Virginia is $2.16, which is five cents less than last week, and 11 cents cheaper than a year ago.
Gas prices are even cheaper in Hampton Roads at $2.11. The national average as of Monday is at $2.38, and according to the press release, the national average hasn’t been this cheap since last February.
“For the third week, U.S. gasoline stocks decreased while demand increased, AAA Tidewater Virginia spokesperson Holly Dalby states in the press release. “Generally, growing demand amid declining stocks causes increases at the pump, but crude oil prices have dipped to four-year lows, signaling spring could be cheaper at the pump.”
On Monday evening, gasbuddy.com recorded Suffolk gas prices that ranged from $1.96 to $2.19, a decrease from the $2.01 to $2.29 range recorded by the website on March 2.
