The Suffolk (VA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has been making a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic by partnering with local YMCAs and Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.
Members have worked more than 70 service hours collectively. Nonperishable food items from the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was packed by chapter members and YMCA staff at the Taylor Bend YMCA in Chesapeake, and distributed at the Suffolk Family YMCA and the James L. Camp Jr. YMCA in Franklin. Members also made food donations.
To date, 1,157 boxes have been distributed to families in need during our volunteer hours. All necessary safety measures — masks, social distancing and gloves — were implemented.
“The Suffolk (VA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated is embracing this opportunity to work with other service organizations to improve the lives of those in this community,” according to a press release from the chapter.
