Tickets are on sale for the 36th annual Suffolk Leadership Prayer Breakfast, which will be held at 7 a.m. June 25 at The Liberty Center, off Godwin Boulevard at Centerbrooke and Romans Road one block from Suffolk National guard Armory.

This event normally is held concurrently with the National Day of Prayer, but this year it was celebrated virtually because of COVID-19 on May 7.

The virtual breakfast is still online for viewing.

“However, because of the importance of coming together in person for this event, and the great need for prayer in our country today more than ever for our families and our city, our state, our nation and the world, a future date was announced then that the Suffolk Leadership Prayer Breakfast would be held in person tentatively on Thursday, June 25,” a press release from the event committed stated.

A letter to invited guests stated there will be circulating fresh air, and tables will be spaced appropriately. The breakfast will be served in individual to-go containers, rather than as a self-serve buffet as in prior years.

The Leadership Prayer Breakfast is a sellout each year. Though originally held in October during Peanut Fest, the event was moved to the first Thursday in May to coincide with the National Day of Prayer.

The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives Breakfast Group inaugurated the National Prayer Breakfast 67 years ago to seek God’s guidance as well as to reaffirm their faith in God, His plan and purposes. It continues to be held annually in Washington, D.C., hosted by members of Congress and each year is attended by the President of the United States, who is always a participant on the program. Every U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has participated in the annual event.

The speaker and music for the Suffolk Leadership Prayer Breakfast are usually not announced ahead, the same as the National Leadership Prayer Breakfast; however, audience members count on notables and an inspirational program.

Tickets are on sale at The Liberty Center. More information can be obtained by calling 539-7788 or emailing suffolkvaprayerbreakfast@gmail.com.

Businesses and leaders may purchase tables of six seats for $120. Individual tickets are available for $20 per person. Tickets are not available at the door.
