The Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery will resume memorial services on Monday, according to a press release from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.
The cemetery, along with the other state veterans cemeteries in Amelia and Dublin, is currently open only for direct burials and interments. When ceremonies resume Monday, services will be limited to no more than 50 people, and facemasks must be worn during services and when in groups visiting the cemetery grounds.
After June 22, military funeral honors may also be requested for services, the press release states. However, these are dependent on the availability of funeral honors teams from the U.S. Department of Defense or a veterans service organization.
Other select offices and facilities will begin reopening June 29. More information can be found at www.dvs.virginia.gov. Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery can be called directly at 255-7217.
