Police seek witnesses to fatal crash

Suffolk Police have identified the victim in Wednesday’s fatal crash as Marvin Covington Jr., 47, of Norfolk. Preliminary investigation has revealed the accident may have been due to a hit-and-run, and they are seeking witnesses.
A second man who was involved in the crash remains hospitalized in serious condition, according to a city press release.
The vehicle the two men were traveling in crashed at 10:31 a.m. Wednesday on eastbound Route 58 just prior to where the road becomes six lanes, according to a city press release.
The two men required extrication by Suffolk Fire & Rescue. Covington died at the hospital.
