Early morning shooting leaves one person dead

Suffolk Police are investigating a shooting incident that left one person dead early Saturday morning.
The shots fired call was reported at 2:44 a.m. in the 200 block of North Broad Street and First Avenue, according to a city press release. Officers arrived and found a vehicle that had come to rest against a residence. The driver and sole occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Lamar Octavious Elliott, age 29, of Suffolk.
The residence did not sustain any damage. No further information is available for release, the city press release stated.
