Janett “Aunt Janet” Stephenson Parker went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Born in Murfreesboro, N.C., on April 8, 1941, to the late Eddie Stephenson and Julia Vann Stephenson. Besides her parents, Janett was preceded in death by her loving husband, Curtis Lee Parker, and sister, Essie Stephenson Andrews.
Janett was a proud, lifelong member of East End Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
After attending Suffolk Public Schools, Janett began employment at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital and continued employment at Bon Secours DePaul Hospital as a nutritionist in Norfolk, where she retired in 1998 after 27 years of dedicated service.
Janett is survived by her daughter, Sandra Parker Motley, of Portsmouth; grandson, Adrian White (Shontaye), of Norfolk; two great-granddaughters, Ava and Ayanna White; sister-in-law, Deloris Little, of Irvington, N.J.; brother-in-law, Leroy Andrews, of Suffolk; devoted nephew, Paul Andrews (Cynthia), of Atlanta, Ga.; devoted niece, Karen Andrews Thompson (Steven), of Bowie, Md.; a dedicated caregiver and friend, Latharis Wilson, of Suffolk; goddaughters, Shawanda Parson, of Suffolk, and Tonya Woodley Benjamin, of San Diego, Calif.; a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and loyal pet dog, Dee.
A visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at noon Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk. Please adhere to all social distancing guidelines during the visitation and graveside service.
