Police investigate Tuesday evening shooting

Suffolk Police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday evening.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 8:47 p.m., according to a city press release. While investigating in the area of the 600 block of Virginia Avenue, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim received assessment and treatment from Suffolk Fire & Rescue and was taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance for treatment of a gunshot wound that was not deemed life-threatening.
Police on Wednesday identified the victim as a 32-year-old Suffolk man.
The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available for release.
