Police investigate shooting

The Suffolk Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that took place early Sunday in the 600 block of First Avenue, according to a city press release.
Emergency Communications received several calls related to shots fired at 12:27 a.m., the press release stated. Officers arrived on the scene and began investigating the incident and discovered both a residence and a vehicle were struck by gunfire.
No injuries were reported at the scene, but officers were later notified of a gunshot victim who had been transported by private vehicle to an area hospital. The 35-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting incident on First Avenue.
The incident remains under investigation.
