Vanzola Bond Riddick, 95, of Gates, N.C. departed this earthly life on Aug. 18, at her residence. A native of Gates County, N.C., she was born on Dec. 29, 1924, to the late Benjamin Bond and Blanche Matthews Bond. She was a retired librarian for Gates County Public Schools. She was a member of Lebanon Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted son, George Riddick (Cheryl), of Suffolk; one brother, Henry Jack Bond, of Wollcott, Conn.; two grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A graveside service was held on Aug. 23, at New Hope Baptist Church. Hunter’s Funeral Home in Gates, N.C., is handling the arrangements.
