Mr. Johnnie Ray Artis, 86, entered into eternal slumber on Sept. 2, 2020, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Artis, children Vivian Artis Williams (Terry), Cheryl Artis Jordan (Ronald), and Sonya Artis Johnson; Grandchildren Travis (Dana), Brandon, Tiffany, Alexis (Durell), Christy, Courtney, and Ashley; other family and friends.

A visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at East End Baptist Church and he will be laid to rest at Carver Cemetery.
Guests are asked to please adhere to all social distancing guidelines during the visitation and the celebration of life service.
