Karen Lee Hill, 61, passed away June 24, 2020. She was born in Newport News, on Sept. 8, 1958, the daughter of the late Marvin Randolph Hill Sr. and Gay Lee Waddell Hill.
Karen spent her early school years in Farmville, after which her family moved to Suffolk. Karen was a proud graduate of Suffolk High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland.
Karen loved to write, and her first career was in journalism. She was editor of the Tidewater News for several years. Karen later worked in development for a private school and as an administrative assistant in the medical field. She loved animals, but in particular, horses. She also loved the color purple and Sinatra. In the ’70s and ’80s, Karen was known for planning and hosting parties for family and friends that are remembered to this day.
Karen had a close circle of friends that miss her dearly. Her ashes will be spread in Farmville, near where horses roam, and her friends will lift a glass in her memory.
