Mary Frances Langston, 81, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 26, 2020, at her home. Mary was a native of Nansemond County.
She retired from the Virginia Department of Health, Suffolk Heath Department, after many years of service and dedication. Mary was a faithful member of Rising St. James PHC where she served as church mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Langston; one son, Tony L. Copeland; sister, Elizabeth Frier; and her parents, Sadie Allen and Oscar Kearney. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sharon Copeland and Beverly Whitley; five sons, Albert Copeland (Annie), Reginald Copeland, Gerald Copeland Sr. (Dana), Bryan Copeland (Maria), Terry Copeland, and a bonus daughter JoAnn Greene; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will take place Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive guests respectfully at 1420 Blythewood Lane. A homegoing service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at Rising St. James PHC by the Rev. Robert Wilkins, and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
