Suffolk Police are currently investigating the abduction and armed robbery of a couple that occurred Thursday evening, according to a city press release.
Preliminary investigation has revealed the offender approached the victims at approximately 7 p.m. in their driveway in the 4400 block of Kendal Way in the Chatham Woods neighborhood after they had returned home from dinner, the press release stated.
The offender held the victims at gunpoint in their vehicle and forced them to drive to an ATM to withdraw money, and then to additional locations in Portsmouth, where he exited the vehicle approximately 35 minutes later. The couple was not injured.
The couple then contacted Emergency Communications in Portsmouth, who alerted the Suffolk Police Department. Officers from the Portsmouth Police Department met the couple, who then drove back to Suffolk to meet with Suffolk Police Department officers at their residence.
The offender is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a skinny build, wearing baggy clothing, a baseball cap, and a dark mask covering his lower half of the face. The vehicle he drove to Kendal Way was later found to have been stolen during a home invasion robbery in Portsmouth.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
