Police investigate shooting
The Suffolk Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that happened Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting was reported at 2:35 p.m., according to a city press release. Preliminary investigation found an adult male suffered a gunshot wound in the area of the 400 block of Wilson Street, and sought assistance in the 200 block of Wellons Street.
The man was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
A vehicle in the area was also damaged by gunfire. The investigation remains ongoing.
