No injuries in train versus vehicle collision
No one was injured in a train versus vehicle crash in downtown Suffolk on Friday evening.
The crash was reported at 9:29 p.m. at the crossing at South Saratoga Street and Hall Avenue, according to a city press release.
Preliminary investigation found a Ford Mustang became disabled while on the tracks and was struck by a Norfolk Southern train. The adult male driver was able to escape the vehicle before the collision.
There was no derailment, but four railroad crossings in the downtown area are blocked as a result of the accident.
The incident remains ongoing.
