TowneBank will match up to $50,000 in total donations to the YMCA of South Hampton Roads on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1.
This is the second consecutive year that the Suffolk-based bank will match donations.
“When you give to the Y on Giving Tuesday or any day of the year, you are ensuring equitable access to resources that the Y is committed to providing, no matter the challenges that may face our communities, economically or socially,” Anthony Walters, president and chief executive officer for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, stated in a news release.
Waters said that without partners like TowneBank, YMCA programs such as its Pandemic Childcare and e-Learning Academy, which has served more than 3,000 kids since late March, would not be possible.
The YMCA of South Hampton Roads noted that during the coronavirus pandemic, many communities in the region are facing challenges to accessing programs such as childcare, virtual learning support, safe healthy living resources and even their next meal. It notes that donations on Giving Tuesday will go to making sure that those in need can access the YMCA’s resources, no matter what their barriers are.
