Sylvia R. Outlaw was born on Feb. 1, 1942. She was native to Suffolk and the daughter of the late Cora Hunter. Sylvia was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Outlaw and grandson, Mike Hoggard. She departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.

Sylvia’s precious memory will be forever cherished by her five loving children, Tyrone Hunter (Debra), Sharon O. Baker (Kenny), Derek Outlaw (Kenya), Eric Outlaw (Vonda), Juan Outlaw (La’Rhonda); her seven grandchildren, Sheba Copeland (Antwan), Omar, Eric, Tyron, Chasity, Taylor and Keyana; her five great-grandchildren, Kamarrie, Kamuntae, Aaliyah, Kasper and Kobe; a special devoted son-in-law, Kenneth Baker; a special nephew, Calvin Diggs; three stepchildren; David Outlaw (Renee), Linda Lassiter (Mack), Valerie Roberts (Ronzell).

Sylvia also leaves devoted family and friends to cherish her memory the family of the Rev. Michael Frazier, Lucille Sharpe, Wanda Redd, Katherine Brothers, Lisa Rains, Estelle Wilkins, Katherine and Lonnie Peterson, Deloise Boyette, Margaret Jones, Mia Goodman, Doris Cheeks, Patricia Artis, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy and flowers may be extended at cookeovertonfuneralhome.com.
