A collaboration of ministries will provide food for those in need as the pandemic continues.
Faith Temple Ministries Apostolic Church is hosting a food giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon on March 27 at 476 Wellons St.
This giveaway will be part of a first-time partnership with the church and two other ministries, Bountiful Blessings Inc. and Solid Rock Worldwide Ministries. These other two ministries have served needy communities in Hampton Roads, but this is their first time coming to Suffolk.
“Faith Temple Apostolic Ministries has always had a heart to reach out to the community,” said Elder Larry Conwell, the event coordinator. “It’s really the heartbeat of God to feed the lost and meet the needs of the community. This is the perfect time with the pandemic to go beyond the walls for an essential year of outreach.”
Like past events held at Faith Temple Ministries Apostolic Church during the past year, the giveaway will take place in the parking lot. However, this time it will not be in a drive-through format. For a more in-person experience and to make personal connections, folks who come through can get out of their car and walk up to receive their box of food. The boxes will contain mostly nonperishable foods but also some essential items.
“This will be our third outreach in the parking lot, just to let people know God still cares for them,” said Conwell.
Even though no others are planned yet, this will not be the last food giveaway Suffolk can expect from Faith Temple Ministries Apostolic Church. The church plans to continue meeting the needs of the people around them as they feel God has called them to do.
“We feel led to do the vision of God to come together to bless Hampton Roads and beyond,” said Conwell. “We want to remind the community that God still cares and loves us.”
