A Carrollton woman died in a single-vehicle accident the morning of April 27.

According to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police, a 2001 Honda Accord ran off the roadway near the intersection of Penniman Road and Tranquility Drive in York County and struck a tree.

Due to the speed at which the crash occurred, the driver, 31-year-old Ashley Nicole Yount, was ejected and died upon impact.

Police were called at 4:44 a.m. Police have since notified Yount’s family.
