Suffolk native Barbara Lisa Wheeler, 58, went to be with her beloved Lord Dec. 12, 2020.

She was known for her kindness, her contagious smile, her fierce, unconditional love of family and friends, and her absolute toughness, as well as her love of nature, shown in her love for long rides in the country (backroads), and her green thumb.

Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Charles T. Crowder; and her stepfather, James C. Butts Sr. She is survived by her mother, Virginia Butts; brother, Kenny Crowder (his children Ashley and JR), children, Cody (Tiffany), Myriah; grandchildren Serynity, Kyrum, Brendyn and Esther; her devoted cousin, Jimmy James, and D.J., along with other family and many friends.

There will be a celebration of life at noon Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Pavilion in Portsmouth City Park near the waterfront she loved, for all who wish to celebrate with us and send her spirit forward.
