Thursday fire ruled arson

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating arson that happened late Thursday to a residential structure fire in the 200 block of Forest Street.

Emergency Communications was contacted at 10:44 p.m., and the first unit arrived on scene in the downtown neighborhood at 10:49 p.m., according to a press release.

Firefighters found smoke showing upon arrival at the two-story residence. The fire was quickly knocked down. The residence is currently under renovation, so no residents were staying there. There were no injuries.

The Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed on Friday afternoon that the fire had been ruled arson. Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk Crime Line. To submit online, go to www.p3tips.com.
