Police have identified the victim in a fatal train accident that happened on July 1.

Lee Anthony Whitfield, 58, of Suffolk, died in the accident, according to a city press release.

The accident was reported at 2:05 a.m. after the Norfolk Southern train struck Whitfield in the area of North 10th Street in the Lloyd Place neighborhood.
