Arson investigation continues

The investigation into a Tuesday morning fire continued at Suffolk Towers on Wednesday.
Fire Marshal Chris Cornwell said officials were working with property management at Suffolk towers Apartments to ensure that the fire alarm system at the building has been fully restored, according to a city press release. Occupants of the building are going to be permitted to return Thursday morning, the press release added.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue staff are also working with property management officials to ensure that working smoke detectors are properly installed in each apartment unit.
The resident of the building who was initially charged with arson of an occupied dwelling remains hospitalized in fair condition, the press release stated. Additional charges are forthcoming.
The additional adult male that was ground transported has been treated and released from the hospital.
