A single-vehicle accident took the life of a woman Wednesday evening.

The crash was reported at 7:23 p.m., according to a city press release. It happened in the area of Shingle Creek in the 1000 block of Wilroy Road.

The adult female driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Public Works will be setting up detours, and the 1000 block of Wilroy Road will be closed between Saunders Drive and Suburban Drive for several hours as the investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
