Teen charged in July shooting

A Portsmouth teen has been charged in connection with a shooting that happened July 24.

Nasir Kamal Edmond, 18, was arrested Wednesday on charges including two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, use or display of firearm in commission of a felony and possession of assault or handgun by juvenile. Edmond was a juvenile at the time the incidents occurred, according to a city press release.

Edmond is charged in a shooting that happened at 2:43 p.m. July 24 in the area of Green Ash Court and Magnolia Drive. Two older teen males had gunshot wounds.

Edmond is being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
