A Suffolk man has died following a two-vehicle crash on Whaleyville Boulevard Thursday afternoon. 

Sean E. Perry, 54, died in the hospital following the crash at 1:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Whaleyville Boulevard involving a passenger vehicle and a van, according to Suffolk Police. 

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews had to extricate both drivers from their vehicles, with one being flown by Nightingale helicopter to a local hospital, and another man taken by ambulance to a local hospital. 

Both had what were considered to be life-threatening injuries. 

The road in the immediate area was closed in both directions following the crash but was reopened later Thursday afternoon. 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
