Child injured in shooting

A 10-month-old baby was injured late Tuesday when shots were fired into two residences.

At 11:40 p.m., the Suffolk 911 Center received a call for shots fired in the area of Spruce Street and Raleigh Avenue, according to a Suffolk Police Department news release. Police arrived and discovered several shell casings near the intersection of Laurel Street and Columbus Avenue.

During their investigation, the officers also found that two residences were damaged in the 200 block of Columbus Avenue, and a 10-month-old had suffered a gunshot wound. The child was treated by Suffolk Fire and Rescue and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
