One person is dead and two have been hospitalized after a crash on Bridge Road.

The crash happened at 5:26 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of Bridge Road near the Godwin Bridge, according to a Suffolk Police Department press release.

An adult passenger of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased on scene. On Saturday, he was identified as Glen Nelon, 83, of Smithfield.

A second occupant of the same vehicle, as well as an occupant from the other vehicle, were transported to local hospitals with severe injuries.

The area of the 2200 block of Bridge Road at the Godwin Bridge was closed for several hours for the investigation.
